WordPress started as blogging software, so creating postings was its early strength, but it has also developed into a strong CMS (Content Management System) by being able to develop a page hierarchy (parent pages & child sub-pages). There is a plugin “Admin Column View” which we have added to all our faculty sites which makes it easy to create a site page hierarchy.
If you plan on creating several pages, and sub-pages, on your site, this plugin makes the process of creating and managing the page hierarchy much easier.
The “Column View” option is available beneath the “Pages” option in the Dashboard.
In the above illustration, note the arrows next to “Page 3 >” and “Page Two >”. “Page 3″ is highlighted, and it’s sub-page, “A New Sub-Page,” is showing in column two. From this view, you can also drag and drop to re-order the pages.
Below is an example of pages as they appear from the site navigation menu.
